Benny Hu
Mr. Hu has recently been appointed by the President of
the Republic of China as an Ambassador-at-large representing
ROC's international economic interests. Previously, he
was the President of China Development Industrial Bank,
the largest investment bank in Taiwan. He grew the bank
from US$160 million paid in capital to over US$1.86 billion,
and the market cap of the bank increased from US$926 million
to US$5 billion during tenure. He also expanded business
of the bank to the United States, Great Britain, Japan,
Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, and Philippines. Of the 250
companies invested during tenure, 62 companies had IPOs
and 10 were acquired. He was also the Chairman of Chung
Hwa Lone Star Assets Management Corp., a joint venture
between U.S. based Lone Star Group and China Development
Industrial Bank to handle distressed assets in Taiwan,
and it is the first asset management company established
in Taiwan. Prior to CDIB, Mr. Hu was the Chairman of the
Board and the President of China Securities Investment
Trust Corp., a joint venture among CDIB, Fidelity Investment,
Merrill Lynch, Yamaichi Securities and Bangkok Bank. He
also launched Taiwan Fund, the first NYSE-listed single-country
fund focusing on Taiwan and Taiwan ROC Fund, the first
country fund for foreign investors. Mr. Hu received his
MBA degree from Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.
Koh Boon Hwee
Currently Chairman of Development Bank of Singapore
(DBS), Koh Boon Hwee joined DBS as a director in June
2005. Mr. Boon Hwee started his career in 1977 at Hewlett
Packard and rose to becoming its Managing Director in
Singapore, a post he held from 1985 to 1990. From 1991
to 2000, he was Executive Chairman of the Wuthelam Group.
He was also the Chairman of the Singapore Telecom Group
(SingTel) and its predecessor organisations from 1986
to 2001. During his 15-year term as Chairman of SingTel,
he successfully led the Singapore telecommunications company
through its transformation from a statutory board to a
publicly-listed company and from a domestic operator in
Singapore to one of Asia Pacific’s leading integrated
communication service providers. He was also the Chairman
of Singapore Airlines Limited for a period of 5 years.
Mr. Boon Hwee was named the Outstanding
Manager of the Year in 1991 by Business Times and DHL
Worldwide, and was conferred The International Herald
Tribune Visionary and Leader Honour in January 2003. He
serves on the boards of Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd and Agilent
Technologies, Inc. in the United States. Mr. Boon Hwee
also contributes actively to non-profit organisations,
and is the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of
Nanyang Technological University and director of the Singapore
Harvard Foundation.
Arjun Malhotra
Mr. Malhotra, winner of the Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs
Award, has a long string of entrepreneurial successes.
He co-founded the HCL group in 1975, taking it from a
six-person “garage operation” to one of India’s
largest Information Technology corporations. The first
leading Indian entrepreneur to relocate to USA, Mr. Malhotra
took over HCL’s US operation in 1989 and grew it
to nearly $100 million annual revenues. In 1992 he ran
the HCL-HP joint venture in India, and in 1996 he set
up and ran the joint venture with Deluxe Corporation.
He consolidated and grew HCL operations in Hong Kong,
Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. Malhotra studied at The Doon School,
Dehradun, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.
He graduated from IIT with B.Tech. (Hons.) in Electronics
& Electrical Communication Engineering and received
the Dr. B.C. Roy Gold Medal. In 1985, he attended the
Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
In “recognition of his outstanding
contribution and services to the Institute”, Mr.
Malhotra was declared Life Fellow of IIT Kharagpur in
February 2003. The Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah awarded
Mr. Malhotra the Albert Einstein Technology Medal for
2001. The Award salutes the high tech industry’s
vanguard who “with their vision…have revolutionized
the perception of time and space, linking mankind with
ever growing speed and ingenuity".
Mr. Malhotra currently serves as Chief
Executive Officer and Chairman of Headstrong’s Board
of Directors. Prior to Headstrong he was Chief Executive
Officer and Chairman of TechSpan, which merged with Headstrong
in October 2003.
Suresh Rajpal
Suresh Rajpal has over 3 decades of management
experience in the global IT industry. His 29-year career
with Hewlett Packard spanned 3 continents. He founded
and presided over Hewlett Packard's India operations leading
it to a USD 200 million enterprise. His accomplishments
include leading Hewlett-Packard India to achieve the highest
award for business excellence in the country - the CII
EXIM Award for Business Excellence. This award is equivalent
to the Deming prize in Japan, the Malcolm Balridge in
the US, and the EFQM award for total quality in Europe.
Mr. Rajpal founded eCapital solutions
in 1999, leading it to an enterprise with a turnover of
USD 40 million a year through organic growth and acquisitions
in 2 years.
He was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the
Year, 2000.
Dr. Yee Shyi Chang
Dr. Chang was the Founder/Chairman of GTRAN Wireless and
the Founder/Chairman of GBASE and has served as the Chairman
of DALIAN Opti-Communication Park. Prior to that, he was
a Consultant/Senior Consultant to various organisations
like Motorola, Applied Materials and Eastcom Group. Dr.
Chang has a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. Currently,
he is engaged with several projects, one of them being
collaboration with Qualcomm to roll out a CDMA network
in the Philippines.
Dr. D K Ghosh
A well known Telecom Professional, Dr. Ghosh
is the Chairman and Managing Director of ZTE Telecom in
India. Prior to joining ZTE, he was the Executive Director
and a board member of Siemens Public Communications Network
Limited. Prior to Siemens, he was with the Modi group,
Salora group and also with Philips India for over one
and a half decade.
Currently, Dr. Ghosh is the Chairman
of the Telecom sub-committee of Indian Chamber of Commerce
& Industry; Sr. Vice President of Telecom Industry
and Services Association (TISA) and Vice Chairman of Electronics
& Computer Software Export Promotion Council under
Ministry of IT, India.
His recent book on ICT: “The Great Digital Transformation
– A saga of sustainable Development” was launched
by the Vice President of India.
Dr D.K. Ghosh is an Engineering Graduate
from IIT Kharagpur. He holds an MBA from the University
of Calcutta and a Ph.D from CCS University.
